1. About us
These terms apply to orders placed with Loom & Root, a maker of bespoke footstools working from a workshop in Bristol and delivering across the UK. Loom & Root is a sole trader. You can reach us by email at [email protected], Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Loom & Root; "you" and "your" mean the person placing an order.
2. Quotes & orders
Tell us what you have in mind through our contact form or by email, and we will reply with a written quote setting out the price, the materials, the lead time and anything we need to confirm.
A quote is an invitation to order, not a binding contract. No order is confirmed, and no contract exists between us, until we have agreed the details in writing and received your deposit. We may decline or adjust a quote where a specification is not workable, or where material or cost details have changed.
3. Pricing & payment
All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP). Our footstools typically fall in the region of £400–£700, but the price for your piece is the one set out in your written quote, and that quoted price is the total you pay. We do not take payment online and there is no checkout — payment is arranged directly with us, and the accepted methods and invoicing details are set out in your quote.
For bespoke and made-to-order pieces we ask for a 50% deposit to begin work, with the balance due before delivery. Fabric and materials for a bespoke piece are ordered and cut specifically for you, which is why a deposit is taken.
4. Bespoke & made-to-order pieces
Bespoke footstools are made to your specification. Because each piece is made to your specification and clearly personalised to you, the 14-day right to cancel that normally applies to goods bought at a distance does not apply to it, under the exemption for made-to-measure and personalised goods in the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This does not affect your rights if a piece arrives faulty, damaged or not as described.
If you need to change or cancel an order, please tell us as soon as possible. Before work begins, your deposit is returned in full. Once we have committed work or materials to your piece, we will keep from your deposit only what covers what has actually been spent and the work already done, and return the rest to you.
5. Lead times
Bespoke pieces typically take 3–6 weeks to make, depending on your fabric choice, once your order is confirmed and your deposit received. Lead times are indicative and are not guaranteed. We will let you know if anything is likely to affect the timescale for your piece.
6. Delivery
We deliver across the UK. Delivery arrangements and any charges are set out in your quote, or agreed with you before your piece is dispatched. Delivery timescales are indicative and are not guaranteed. Your piece remains our responsibility until it is delivered to you: if it is lost or damaged on its way to you, that is ours to put right.
7. Care & guarantee
Our footstools are made by hand from natural materials, which vary a little in grain, colour and texture — this is part of how they look and wear, not a fault. We will provide care guidance with your piece. If something goes wrong because of the way a piece was made, tell us and we will repair it, remake it or refund it, whichever is appropriate in the circumstances. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
8. Liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our liability in connection with an order is limited to the price you paid for the piece. We are not liable for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or that arises from use of a piece other than as intended.
9. If something is wrong
If you are unhappy with a piece, or with how we have handled your order, email us at [email protected] and we will do our best to put it right. If we cannot resolve it between us, you remain free to take the matter further, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
10. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts there, and nothing in these terms prevents you from doing so.
